Wash. Walmart gunman shoots 2, fatally shot by bystander

Wohl described a chaotic spree which began with the suspect believed to be driving intoxicated the wrong way down a major road and ended with a bystander shooting and killing him in a Walmart parking lot.

Two bystanders outside the store drew their weapons and at least one of them fatally shot the gunman, Wohl told the Olympian. The suspect then fled the store and shot a man while attempting to carjack his vehicle in the store parking lot.

There he attempted to carjack another vehicle, shooting an occupant in it at least twice.

The injured driver was airlifted to a hospital in Seattle and was in critical condition, the Times reported. Then came reports of shots fired near Tumwater High School, where the girl was wounded.

Then, moments later, she heard a "pop, pop, pop" coming from what she said was the other side of the store, and she said everyone froze. "He took action. I really think more people could have been shot. he saved us all".

Caitlyn Wallner told the paper a similar story.

Witness Darren Gossler said he saw a man with what appeared to be a handgun in the supermarket.

According to a police release, two armed civilians initially approached the suspect.

Wohl said no other suspects were being sought.

"He is a hero", Adams said.

"People are grabbing their kids and pushing them in front of them and saying go, go, go and starting heading toward the nearest exit and you just start running and you don't know where to run to in all honesty", said Bryan Adams, who was one of the customers inside the store.
