Blatter will fly to Moscow for World Cup

Blatter who is at the tournament as a guest of Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted that if the tournament is to expand to 48 teams then it would require more than one nation to host it.

England failed with their bid to host the 2018 World Cup, receiving just two votes in the opening round of voting in 2010 as the tournament was awarded to Russian Federation.

Swiss Blatter, who was suspended in 2015, also said he felt "abandoned" by Federation Internationale de Football Association and that he should have stepped aside earlier.

He has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing despite his ban and struck a defiant tone in Moscow, describing the criminal probe as "an attack on FIFA" and saying he was still president of the organisation. "But in the past we have seen that there is political intervention for football", he said.
