They are essentially the faces of the argument that the Clinton Email Probe and the Russia Investigation are to be discredited because the way the investigations have been handled is motivated by political bias. And doesn't that play directly into the idea that the now-infamous Strzok "we'll stop it" text was meant literally?

Strzok had a leadership role on both the investigation of Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, as well as the probe into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russian Federation to influence the 2016 election.

Schiff noted that Republicans on the committee had notified the DOJ in January about the committee's intentions to interview Strzok, but they ultimately did not offer him the opportunity to speak before the committee "for reasons that remain unclear".

To put this in context, the IG report states: "Strzok and Page were communicating on their FBI-issued phones as part of an extramarital affair". In one exchange just weeks before the 2016 election, Strzok told Page that "we'll stop" Mr. Trump from becoming president.

An FBI agent removed from special counsel Robert Mueller's team because of anti-Donald Trump text messages has been escorted out of the FBI building "as part of the ongoing internal proceedings", his attorney said Tuesday.

"I was not talking about anything remotely classified and the inspector general didn't say that as well", Comey said.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz answered questions for more than five hours at a joint hearing of two House committees - Judiciary as well as Oversight and Government Reform - a day after he testified about his 500-page report before a Senate panel. Politico reported that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., had started the process to subpoena Strzok, though Goelman said that the lawmaker had done so without having asked whether Strzok might appear voluntarily.

Rep Ted Poe (R-Texas) asked the IG if he could reveal the identities of the unnamed Federal Bureau of Investigation officials who were mentioned in the report. Page and Strzok were romantically involved at the time and used their work phones to engage in long-running text discussions of various work, personal and political topics.

"The "Andy" referred to in the text message appears to be FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe", says the IG report.
