Rachel Maddow cries live on air while describing Trump's 'tender age' camps

She continued: "The Trump administration has been sending babies and other young children. oh, hold on".

Maddow was reading the opening lines from a widely read Associated Press report detailing three "tender age" facilities where children under the age of 13 are being sent after being separated from their parents at the border.

But after struggling to complete the entire report, she eventually admits defeat.

"I think I'm going to have to hand this off, sorry", the MSNBC host said while fighting back tears.

Maddow later apologized on Twitter for her breakdown and followed up with a thread of tweets explaining what she had a hard time saying out loud.

She repeatedly tried to read a description of the shelters but was forced to abruptly end her show minutes earlier then planned.

Watching Rachel @maddownot even be able to speak, but literally break down crying talking about Trump's latest development of "tender age" detainment of seemingly infants to toddlers has me a little shaken, sad, and disturbed.

This is Rachel Maddow upon getting the breaking news that Trump has established detention centers for babies who've been forcefully taken from their parents.

According to the report, medical professionals and lawyers have visited the shelters and reported "play rooms of crying preschool-age children in crisis". Since its "zero tolerance policy" was announced in May, more than 2,000 children have been separated from their parents and left in camps at the border.
