Apple’s AirPower wireless charger may not be released until September

With the bulk of regular wireless charging pads only handling a single device at a time, Apple's system - which, the company promised, would support the Qi standard that has been broadly adopted across the industry - was an appealing one.

At Apple's September 2017 product event, the company said AirPower would be released in 2018. They're related to the complex circuitry involved and engineers trying to ensure that the mat doesn't overheat.

Gurman's report also goes on to say that the AirPower charger will include an Apple-made chip that will run a "stripped down version" of iOS, the operating system that runs on iPhones and iPads.

While one source said that some Apple engineers have been using the charging pads at their desks over the last few months, the team is still apparently working to flawless them. While a wireless future is desirable, it is hard at this point, to imagine a time when wires become completely obsolete and are not necessary, not even for some light debugging or phone resetting.

The oval-shaped AirPower allows you to change multiple Apple devices at the same time, including the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and Apple Watch Series 3. Because it is designed as a mat to let users place up to three different products - iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods - anywhere on its top, it needs to accommodate multiple and differently sized chargers being placed all over the surface.

New evidence that viruses may play a role in Alzheimer's

In a rare move for Apple, it suggested that users buy charging hubs from Mophie and Belkin, instead of selling its own charging accessories. Moreover, the separate charging sensors required to support up to 3 devices at the same time is apparently hard to integrate. But now, it appears these problems have been resolved as Apple is aiming to launch the accessory this September, a full year after it was originally unveiled.

Apple's AirPower might be released on or before September. What type of wireless charger do you use for your mobile devices? Eventually, the company hopes to remove all ports and buttons on the iPhone, according to people familiar with the company's work.

The report states Apple was met with some technical hurdles while developing AirPower, with engineers originally hoping for a launch in June.

Here's everything we know so far about the AirPower wireless charging pad.

Up till now, Apple has been unable to launch the AirPower.
