‘Lost-at-sea’ cruise worker found alive 22hrs after falling overboard

It's an incredible rescue at sea, involving two cruise ships.

The Carnival Glory found and rescued the crew member 21 miles north of Cuba, the U.S. Coast Guard reported Sunday afternoon. The crew member was found in the ocean waters, north of Cuba, alive and well, according to WFOR.

"This is nothing short of miraculous", Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, told The Miami Herald.

The large cruise ship is staffed with more than 1,500 crew members and can accommodate almost 4,000 guests. "Kudos to the Carnival Glory team for this awesome effort to rescue a fellow seafarer", the spokesperson said.

A Norwegian Cruise Line spokesperson thanked the efforts of the Carnival Cruise Line team. Ten minutes later, the Coast Guard dispatched a seaplane to search the waters 28 miles northwest of Cuba. There has been some speculation online that the member went overboard in the early hours of that morning.

But he was found 26 miles from their search area by the staff of the Carnival Cruise Line ship after actively searching for the missing worker.

The crew member is now in stable condition and the incident is also under investigation.
