Putin happy to hold one-on-one meeting with Trump at summit, says Kremlin

In one of the actions of a few dozen members of the youth wing of the ruling party, the national coalition plan to condemn both presidents Putin for the occupation of the Crimea, trump - with the added duties imposed on the EU.

The two leaders were scheduled to meet on July 16 for only the third time and in the first official U.S. -Russia summit since President Donald Trump was sworn into office in January of a year ago.

Trump told reporters last week he would press Putin on election meddling and discuss Syria and Ukraine during their meeting in Helsinki.

Richard Shelby, a Republican senator from Alabama who heads the delegation, also called for dialogue, according to a statement from the governor's office.

Trump is slated to meet Putin in Helsinki on July 16.

But he also said they would oppose any attempt, by the Syrian opposition, backed by the United States, to create an autonomous region in southern Syria.

Sources told CNN that while Trump has already met the Russian president, the private meeting will allow Trump to develop the relationship between the two leaders.

Trump has recently signaled doubts about that US policy and said he wouldn't rule out the possibility of recognizing Crimea as part of Russian Federation.

The lawmakers specifically brought up Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election - along with other "malign" Russian activities when they met with members of the state Duma and other officials over July 4th.

"Everyone in our alliance has the same goal, and that is a strong deterrent; an alliance that is unified that can face any threats that any one of our 29 members might face", she said, listing "Russia and the malign activities of Russian Federation, the efforts of Russian Federation to divide our Democratic nations" and INF treaty violations as among those threats.

Trump has met Putin on the sidelines of several global conferences, but has not held a bilateral summit with the Russian leader.
