Narongsak Osottanakorn, the governor of the country's Chiang Rai Province and the leader of the rescue mission, said the dive team is working with doctors to determine the order of exit, per Forgan.

Officials said Saturday they were aiming to rescue the boys before seasonal monsoon rains hit, which could flood the caves.

The operation to rescue the boys, ages 11-16, and their 25-year-old coach by having them dive out of the flooded cave began on Sunday morning (local time), with expert divers entering the sprawling complex for the complicated and risky mission. Monsoon flooding cut off their escape and prevented rescuers from finding them for nearly 10 days.

The entire nation is glued to the media coverage of the rescue mission, and Thai authorities have insisted they will not compromise on the safety of the trapped group.

According to our correspondent, Thai officials have warned the rescue could take three or four days in the worst case scenario. The deceased is identified as Saman Kuniont who (38) who was returning from the chamber where the boys were trapped.

Following a relatively dry spell, fresh torrential downpours could pose a setback to rescuers who have struggled to drain the Tham Luang cave complex in the northern province of Chiang Rai.

The rescue teams had rehearsed the plan for several days, Narongsak said, and had managed to drain the cave water level considerably, but needed to move fast. The next phase of the operation is expected to start in 10-20 hours.

At 10 a.m. local time, 10 divers headed to chamber 9 where the boys are located and the others will remain along the route to assist.

Water levels have dropped significantly in the cave, so the boys will be able to walk out for part of the way before they have to make a treacherous dive in dark and muddy waters out of the narrow cave passageways, officials said.

The letters were picked up by Thai navy SEALs who made an 11-hour journey back-and-forth to act as postal couriers.

The first two boys - described as the weakest of the group - emerged from the Tham Luang cave complex and were immediately transported by ambulance to Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital one hour away.

The Thai navy Seals Facebook page posted that an additional two boys had also been freed - the third at 7.35pm local time and the fourth 12 minutes later. Food, electrolyte drinks, drinking water, medicine and oxygen canisters have been delivered to them.
