Deceased Celtics fan is staged playing NBA2K at funeral

The family of a New Orleans shooting victim who died last month prepared his body for his wake over the weekend in a way they said honors his memory.

According to the Times-Picayune, Matthews was shot and killed while he was walking his dog on June 25.

During his wake at Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home in Treme, Matthews' family chose to remember him with what he loved most. Renard Matthews will be buried Tuesday.

During his remembrance on Sunday, the family had Matthews preserved and placed in stance that reflected his low-key lifestyle.

Dressed in a Kyrie Irving Celtics jersey and socks, Matthews sits in a chair with a video game controller in his hand, surrounded by his favorite snacks. Not only was he representing his favorite team, but he was also "playing" NBA2K on his Xbox One. His family put together a unique display, which quickly went viral, at the Sunday wake that commemorated the young man's life and love of the Celtics.
