"I don't think he wanted to say any words that he'd regret down there". So I was nervous I had lost part of my floor or something because the vehicle was moving for unknown reasons, but then it started to get better and better, after some tweaks to the settings.

All of which sounded like anguished moans of the vanquished to Vettel, who with victory extended his championship lead to eight points. Meanwhile, Hamilton who missed a chance of a sixth straight victory in his home race sent a message to his fans.

Mercedes endured one of its worst weekends of the V6 turbo era at the Red Bull Ring, with both cars retiring from the race.

"Really, really pleased with the result" remarked race victor Vettel, "especially here, a track that we've struggled at in the past, it was nice to see that we were strong all weekend and able to fight for the win, obviously we got the lead back in the end, it felt very satisfying".

"We'll take it on the chin and keep pushing hard, because believe me I will not give up".

Hamilton was spun round at the first corner by Vettel's Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, but turned in a masterful display, and took advantage of two safety auto periods to finish behind Vettel.

As Arrivabene raged at Mercedes' ungentlemanly behaviour and post-race suggestions of deliberate underhand tactics, Hamilton said Sunday's collision was "a racing incident and nothing more".

Allison, who quit Ferrari to join Mercedes, was brought into the post-race row by Merc chief Toto Wolff. It was not so easy to find a way through. Next year's race is set to be the last British Grand Prix staged at the Northamptonshire circuit unless Liberty Media and the BRDC, owners of Silverstone, strike up a new deal.

Congress is likely to oppose troop withdrawals and could pass legislation to prevent Trump from using money to move the military. "In fact, Putin went as far as telling the President that the 'deep state" is conspiring against them both.

Allen, Young scuffle briefly during NBA Summer League matchup
Trent was able to play 19 minutes for the Blazers, the most of any bench player and clearly took advantage of his opportunity. Like Trent Jr., Allen also scored 16 points in the game and also pulled down six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Unfortunate though the start was for Hamilton, he showed his mettle and proved just how much he wants this fifth crown.

And I think Lewis has his engineers to thank for the second place finish.

"I said you need to question whether it was incompetence or deliberate - a stupid comment of mine in the emotion", he said.

The biggest talking point of last night's British Grand Prix was the clash between Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen at the start of the race which led to a 10-second penalty for the Ferrari driver.

Hamilton said that "sometimes we say dumb" things and "we learn from it".

As they headed into the final five laps, the top four cars were separated by only 1.6 seconds with the two Red Bulls in pursuit until, on lap 47, Verstappen spun at Club and Vettel squeezed past Bottas, at Brooklands, to seize the initiative.

"Honestly, to get back to second it's huge for us and I will definitely take it, of course, and I'm happy with the drive that I did".

Hamilton has now lost points in six of the 10 races so far this season either through his own mistake as at Silverstone or technical problems and botched strategy calls by Merc.
