Man harasses woman for wearing a Puerto Rico shirt, saying it’s ‘un-American’

The governor of Puerto Rico has condemned the incident in which a man harassed a woman for wearing a T-shirt with the Puerto Rican flag.

In a Tuesday afternoon press conference at the Cook County Building in the Loop, Forest Preserves Deputy General Supt.

Irizarry can be heard saying that Puerto Rico is part of the United States and the man approaches her multiple times.

"You should not be wearing that in the United States of America", the man can be heard saying to her on a video she posted on Facebook.

"Had he been a black man coming at a white woman, I swear he would have done something", Irizarry tells the camera at one point. 'Why are you wearing that?' Eilieen Figel said the investigation into the officer is "ongoing" but promised "disciplinary actions will be swift" when the probe is completed. She said the group politely complied, but her Puerto Rico shirt appeared to act as a trigger Trybus. "You know that right?" says the man, who appears to be intoxicated.

"The United States of America is a nation that was built and thrives on diversity".

"You're not renting anything", the man insisted as he approached her.

"Well I guess you just never know", Irizarry responds. She later says in the video, about the officer, "He didn't do anything". She also instructed the man to move away from her.

More officers then arrive at the scene and a female cop sits Trybus down and threatens to charge him. "People have just as much right to be here as you and when you're drunk, you don't belong here". "The intoxicated individual involved in the incident was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct".

The video, posted on Facebook, has been viewed more than 1.2 million times.

Ricardo Rossello, the governor of Puerto Rico, said on Twitter that he was "appalled" by seeing the Irizarry "brutally harassed by a bigot while an officer did not intervene". "We will be looking into this incident as our offices in DC are in contact with local and state authorities, demanding that this officer be expelled from the police force". "He failed to de-escalate the situation and therefore did not ensure a citizen's safety". The incident was also called racist. "Then you should not be wearing that". We can not allow those who do not understand America's greatness to terrorize people due to their background. "This is not the America we all believe in", Rosello tweeted.

Connor has been disciplined in the past for working a part-time job, and not carrying proper identification, according to Pope, who said his department opened an investigation into Connor's response the day of the incident, and that Connor was placed on desk duty June 24.
