Following the imminent signing of Riyad Mahrez, just looking at Manchester City's attacking options for next season is enough to set your heart racing.

No deal has been agreed as yet, but we understand Leicester will receive around £60m - some way short of their £80m January asking price.

Manchester City made several bids to sign the Algerian winger in the past, but the Foxes were defiant as they held on to their most prized asset despite the player handing in an official transfer request twice.

However, both Press Association Sport and Sky Sports reported that with Leicester having signed highly rated James Maddison from second-tier Norwich City for £24m and, with a month to go to the falling of the transfer window curtain, they are now willing to sell him.

Slimani and Amartey are expected to join Claude Puel's side for their training camp in France next week while Mahrez has been left out as he reportedly nears his switch to Manchester City.

Rob Pelinka is scheduled to have an official press conference on Wednesday to discuss the free agent signings. James, 33, has averaged 27.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game in 1,143 career contests.

The 2015-16 PFA Players' Player of the Year was not due to return to pre-season training with Leicester for another fortnight.

Mahrez enjoyed a fine season in 2017-18, as he provided 10 assists and scored 12 goals in 36 Premier League appearances.

The Spaniard is plotting a £65 million swoop for the winger after narrowly missing out on the Algerian worldwide in the January transfer window.

Do you think Mahrez will become a regular under Guardiola?

He helped the Foxes to a shock Premier League title in 2016, scoring 17 times, and then played a major role in the club reaching the Champions League quarter finals in 2016/17.
