Amazon Prime Day is almost here: it starts at midday on Monday 16 July and runs until midnight on Tuesday 17 July, and we're expecting some excellent deals on TVs, laptops, kitchen appliances, vacuum cleaners, mattresses and much more. EBay is also promoting its new "Best Price Guarantee", in which it promises to pay 110 percent of the price difference should a consumer find a better deal elsewhere within 48 hours of purchase.

Students also qualify for a special membership rate, while those who haven't already tried Amazon Prime can opt for a 30-day free trial. The minefield of discounts available exclusively on Amazon is something of a Black Friday in July situation, with bargains to be found in tech, music, film, and much more. But if you're not a subscriber, don't worry, you can still take advantage of Prime Day prices by signing up for a temporary membership for free! Thankfully, there are some loopholes.

Next week, Redmi Y2 smartphone will be sold again exclusively on Amazon Prime Day only for Prime members. You can track security cameras, watch news clips, browse your shopping lists and make video calls to friends and family - all without having to lift a finger. The games are yours to keep forever, even if you cancel your Prime membership before your first payment is due. From an 80-minute charge you can get up to 10 minutes of flying time, and the main unit packs down to a portable 122x94x57mm.
