Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has joined West Ham United on a three-year deal, the Premier League side announced on Monday.

The midfielder had been a regular fixture in the Arsenal team towards the end of last season but Wilshere is now getting used to his new surroundings with the Hammers.

While stressing on the subject of him and his family being supporters of the club, he said, "People will have seen the picture of me in a West Ham shirt, and I've got good memories of my childhood supporting West Ham, watching them at Upton Park.

It's well known that I come from a family of Hammers and it's a special moment to sign", he said.

Going on to further explain why he'd picked the Gunners the 26 year old added, "I think it was a number of things". "The manager [convinced me],..."

West Ham can expect a player like Lionel Messi next season as Jack Wilshere's move across London has been confirmed.

West Ham have tabled a club-record £40 million (€45m/$53m) bid for Lazio star Felipe Anderson, and are closing in on the signing of Jack Wilshere, Goal can confirm.

"Jack is a player with excellent technical ability, combined with great energy and commitment, and has proven his quality both in the Premier League and at global level", he told the club's website.

"On the biggest stage, he has shown that he has game-changing abilities, as well as having the creativity and intelligence to make a real difference to our squad".

Wilshere's contract expired last month. Wilshere's ten years at Arsenal only yielded in him making 125 appearances for the team and 197 overall in all competitions, owing to plenty of fitness and injury related problems.

Among Wilshere's first objectives at his new club will be to play his way back into the England squad, having missed out on the 23-man panel for the World Cup in Russian Federation this summer.
