Conte took training when some of the Chelsea squad returned for pre-season this week but has always been expected to be replaced this summer.

Meanwhile, Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is rumoured to be on the verge of being appointed as the new boss at Stamford Bridge.

Friday's Chelsea statement announcing that they had "parted company" with Conte was brief, and without a thank you, but it did highlight what the club had achieved before relations soured.

The Premier League season starts in four weeks' time, leaving clubs much less time than usual to conclude their summer transfer business.

But he was warned not to follow the title success with "a Mourinho season" in reference to their slump of 2015-16 when they finished 10th, a year after winning the league under the Portuguese.

The drama came at 24-24, 0-15 in the fifth set with both players looking delirious as the match time neared six-and-a-half hours. Friday's five-set match between Kevin Anderson and John Isner has become the longest semifinal in Wimbledon history.

Two trophies in two seasons but the writing was on the wall.

But, despite winning the FA Cup last season - beating Manchester United in the final, Chelsea have ditched Conte ahead of the new campaign. "I wish you every success in the future".

Sarri's arrival could also pave the way for Jorginho to complete his move to Chelsea soon.

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola and Giovanni Martusciello are expected to join Sarri's backroom staff while Italian-Brazilian midfielder, Jorginho, is now undergoing a medical at Cobham and will also follow Sarri from Naples to London. This text will now form the basis of Chelsea's evidence against their former manager.

Conte was reported to have left the club on Thursday, after two seasons at Stamford Bridge.
