The new MacBook Pros also have TrueTone displays and a new Apple T2 chip to handle payment security. Surprisingly, the third compatible monitor is Apple's own Thunderbolt Display, which has been discontinued for several years now.

When Apple announced its 2018 MacBook Pro family yesterday, it said that the keyboards are now "quieter", but it made no mention of actually resolving the problem with the failure-prone keys.

As a long-time 2015 MacBook Pro user, I have been patiently waiting for a new MacBook Pro upgrade.

Those new keyboards on the refreshed MacBook Pros provide a slightly quieter typing experience, but they retain the same short key travel from the previous generation. But here's to hoping that the next generation of keyboards will completely fix the problem.

Right now though, your best bet to get your hands on the 2018 MacBook Pro will be to order it directly from Apple's online store as the shipping estimates are low at 1-2 days. During its teardown of the new laptops, iFixit discovered that there might be an ulterior motive in Apple introducing the new keyboard. We suspected at the time that Apple fixed the major keyboard issue that's been affecting all MacBook Pros since the 2016 redesign, but Apple would not confirm it officially. Apple confirmed the new keyboard isn't created to fix the dust issue, so things are still up in the air for now. Interestingly, Apple has a patent for this technology, called "Ingress Protection for Keyboards", created to "prevent and/ or alleviate contaminant ingress".
