The left-back shone at the tournament and promptly followed Louis Van Gaal to Old Trafford.

Blind stayed home on Sunday when United flew out to Los Angeles for a pre-season tour of America so he could complete his return to the Dutch club.

Speculation had been rife over the weekend that the versatile Dutch global was set to complete a return to the Eredivisie side, and Man United have now confirmed this to be the case.

Premier League giants Manchester United have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Ajax Amsterdam for the sale of Daley Blind. The transfer fee is 16 million euros (18.7 million US dollars), which can increase to 20.5 million euros, including bonuses.

But, since Mourinho's arrival, Blind has seen his playing time substantially decrease with the Portuguese coach seeming unsure as to his best position.

Blind was going into the final season of the five-year contract he signed when joining United from Ajax in 2014.

That was reduced to just seven appearances for United in the Premier League last season as a result of injuries and being out of favour, with four of those appearances coming from the start. He was part of four title winning teams with Ajax.

Alexis Sanchez was not on Manchester United's flight to the United States because of difficulties getting a travel visa, sources have told ESPN FC.
