At the White House, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump's "no" remark was aimed at ending reporters' questions-and was not actually a response to a question about Russian interference.

Trump was severely criticized for failing to challenge Putin, a former KGB agent, during their joint press conference - a performance U.S. lawmakers from both parties deemed unsafe and an embarrassment.

The announcement comes on the heels of bipartisan criticism of Trump's statements after the two leaders met in Helsinki on Monday.

President Donald Trump has told National Security Adviser John Bolton to invite Russian Ruler Vladimir Putin to Washington in the fall.

Another poll, by Axios, showed Republican support for Trump's handling of his press conference with Putin at a whopping 79 percent. He restated the USA intelligence assessment about Russian meddling and Moscow's "ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy".

US President Donald Trump has said he looks forward to his second meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, insisting that the first meeting was a success despite widespread criticism at home and overseas.

Trump tweeted a list of topics discussed at the summit, including terrorism, security for Israel, Mideast peace, Ukraine, North Korea and more, and wrote: "There are many answers, some easy and some hard, to these problems... but they can ALL be solved!"

Ardoon, 14, said though people can't predict the future, the experience had taught him about the consequences of acting careless. In one emotional moment during the news conference, the boys held a portrait of Saman Gunan, the Thai diver who lost his life.

Trump tweets defiantly as critics continue barrage over Putin summit
And over the years, the handling officer - Putin, in this case - realizes what the asset wants, and that's what they provide. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump said he had misspoken.

"The administration is not going to send, force Americans to travel to Russian Federation to be interrogated by Vladimir Putin and his team", Pompeo said in an interview with The Christian Broadcasting Network.

"Any space would have to be created by Congress or a waiver that they would approve to allow us to do something like that", Votel said. "He got way more than he bargained for", tweeted the official handle of the magazine. Putin's comments were a thinly veiled criticism of the uproar that has followed the Helsinki summit in the USA, where Trump had come under attack from both Republicans and Democrats, as well as in the news media, for what critics have said was his failure to publicly confront Putin over Russia's meddling in the 2016 US election. "He views this problem entirely through a political lens, these people say, unable or unwilling to differentiate between the question of whether his campaign colluded with Russia-which he denies-and the question of whether Russian Federation attempted to influence the election'".

Meanwhile, Russian politicians are angry at proposals by U.S. lawmakers to question Trump's translator about what the men discussed privately before their news conference.

Russia's official assessment of Trump's high-stakes summit with Putin is carefully upbeat.

U.S. lawmakers are calling for a court demand to be issued for the notes of the U.S. translator who accompanied Mr Trump to his two-hour meeting with Mr Putin.

During a news conference, Mr Trump was asked whether he believed USA intelligence agencies' conclusions or Mr Putin about whether Russian Federation had meddled.
