Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Casts Rebecca Romijn as Number One

There were light years to cover when the Star Trek: Discovery cast beamed into TVLine's San Diego Comic-Con interview suite on Friday.

Since then, fans have been speculating about which characters from The Original Series will appear in Season 2.

Star Trek Discovery co-creator and executive producer Alex Kurtzman, who directed the season two premiere, also announced at today's panel the plan for Star Trek Short Treks. It was also confirmed that the new season will see the addition of Rebecca Romijn as the original Number One, and even an appearance by Spock!

The original "Star Trek" debuted in 1966 as a US television series depicting the adventures of the Starship Enterprise.

Star Trek: Discovery fired original showrunners Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg and replaced them with Akiva Goldsman, which has led to questions about how Season 2 will unfold. But based on the new trailer, it turns out I was not far off the mark! The creative added that he and the rest of the Star Trek: Discovery crew know they "owe" fans "lot of answers about how this show connects to canon this season", and that viewers will get what they're after, just not in the way that they expect.
