Larson made an early return to pit road for a reported loose wheel, and Elliott, already plagued by an uncontrolled tire penalty, was also back in his pit way ahead of schedule.

#42 Kyle Larson who is a three-time victor at MIS, but has yet to win this season, if he is going to win before this is his best opportunity, next best chance for Larson is Bristol where he has led many laps everytime he goes there but has failed to win. It marked his second win at MIS.

"I don't like to lose, and I haven't won many races this year, so any chance I can get to win something, I want to win", said NASCAR driver Tony Stewart. "There are a lot of things that move, so we'll see how it all comes together".

There are five drivers who have qualified for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series playoffs by way of a race win: defending series champion Johnny Sauter, Brett Moffitt, Noah Gragson, Justin Haley and Ben Rhodes.

Harvick had a special ride to Gatorade Victory Lane. He's having a career year and yet Busch is still on his heels and at his bumper every step of the way - creating a thrilling championship race for fans and keeping the SHR team honest and motivated. He then climbed in his dad's No. 4 Ford for a ride to victory lane, where he emerged from the vehicle to cheers.

"It was pretty cool today", Harvick said.

With 50 laps remaining in the race, Harvick had a more than one second advantage over Austin Dillon with Keselowski still in third. Harvick was second at MIS earlier this year. He was able to make it around to finish fourth.

Finishing second, 3.2 seconds back, was Brad Keselowski in the No. 2 Ford of Team Penske. Erik Jones managed a 13th-place finish after spinning two times on Sunday.

Ryan Blaney finished fifth, followed by Kurt Busch, Aric Almirola, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott and Joey Logano. On lap 74, Newman spun in turn two to bring out the caution, which allowed Johnson to take back first when he stayed out and Busch pitted. Dillon was able to coast home in fourth behind third-place finisher Kyle Busch.

Leaders Summary (Driver, Times Lead, Laps Led): K. Harvick 5 times for 108 laps; M. Truex Jr. He held that spot until the end of the first stage. Kyle Busch finished second as he did in the opening stage.

Kevin Harvick, one of the dominant "Big Three" drivers this season, appeared to be in a league of his own Sunday at Michigan International Speedway, winning all three stages en route to victory in the Consumers Energy 400.
