‘They’ve been unbelievable’ | St. Louis wows Tiger Woods, golfers in PGA Championship

It's my focus. For some reason the majors get my attention. Okay, we didn't see every single important shot on Sunday but that happens with Sky too and there was a noticeable delay between the market and the action but again, that's the same every week on Sky with the PGA Tour events (far less so with European Tour events).

The tall, big-hitting American fired a four-under-par 66 at Missouri's Bellerive Country Club to earn a 16-under total and a two-shot win from 14-time major champion Woods (64), with Australia's Adam Scott (67) third at 13 under.

Tiger Woods waves to the fans at the 11th hole during the first round of the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club, Aug. 2, 2018, in Akron, Ohio.

Woods missed most of past year so his charge up the list just behind those two was impressive given home much less time he had to earn points, but it also made it all or nothing in terms of qualifying despite his impressive effort. It's been five years, and I've seen him come up through the stages and up through the world rankings.

But six-time major victor, and current broadcaster for CBS, Nick Faldo recently said on the Dan Patrick Show that Woods was "done" with golf in 2017.

Finishing two shots behind overall victor Brooks Koepka is not the fairy tale that most spectators in St Louis would have hoped for, but it is a huge step in the right direction for the 14-time major victor and former world number one.

Former world number one Woods was in the running to claim a record-equalling fifth PGA Championship and his first major trophy since the 2008 U.S. Open but fell short by two strokes.

Barty, Stephens reach Rogers Cup semifinals
Stephens and Halep have met eight times so far in a head-to-head the Romanian leads 6-2. "But I know she's very talented". Obviously, to make a final of another tournament is incredible.

Elon Musk Responds to Azealia Banks’ Claims He Tweeted While on Acid
Banks told Business Insider she would not have been into a sexual rendezvous and said, "He's not cute at all in person". "Omg I'm listening to f2!" she tweeted at the time.

Vienna topples Melbourne in 'most liveable city' ranking
Other Australian cities also featured highly in the index, with Sydney and Adelaide on the list at number 5 and 10, respectively. Almost half the cities in the survey saw their ratings improve over the a year ago .

And it came in a season where he missed the Masters with a left wrist injury. "I don't see why we wouldn't come back", said Brooks Koepka, PGA Championship victor. When I looked up he pointed at me and said, "You, out". "Bit of a struggle with my game".

"It's pretty obvious when Tiger makes a birdie".

"It really hurt that I missed that [birdy shot at the 17th], just not to make it interesting up the last", Scott said. "I've got to be competing at something".

Woods said after the round he is so encouraged by his play that he wants to be a participant on the US team in the this year's Ryder Cup, not just an assistant to captain Jim Furyk.

A year ago, Tiger Woods didn't know what his golf future held. It also tied the 2006 tournament, which (you guessed it!) was won by Woods.

The impact was dramatic for rivals as well. "Any birdie he made everyone went nuts".

"Either way, when you look at Tiger Woods as a player, as a vice captain, no matter what tag you put on that role, he's a huge asset to the team". It's a long story, but after lobbying hard to get Koepka on the cover of SI following his breakthrough at Erin Hills, I brokered another cover story for him, for GOLF Magazine, focusing on his and Johnson's tight relationship with their shared trainer, Joey Diovisalvi.
