‘The Nun’ movie ad pulled out from YouTube for being too shocking

One of the more notable ones executed was by Lionsgate eight years ago for The Last Exorcism on Chatroulette where they showed a young woman, trying to allure guys, who then morphed into a screaming face (See below).

"I advise you look away and/or turn down the volume if you have anxiety or just straight up hate jumpscares, pls rt to save a life". Apparently, the ad violated their content policy for being too shocking. The video features a volume button declining before a Nun pops up and screams.

While effective, it seems the marketing team took things a step too far with a gimmicky new jump scare created to play in front of select YouTube videos.

"Appreciate you bringing this to our attention!" the tweet reads.

Examples of content considered violent or shocking include "gruesome imagery" and "promotions that are likely to shock or scare". Entertainment Weekly writes that the movie takes the "subgenre known as "nunsploitation" (yes, that's actually a thing). mainstream".

The Nun will have you "praying for forgiveness" when it hits theaters on September 7!

The Nun is the latest spin off from The Conjuring franchise and stars American Horror Story rising star Taissa Farmiga, who also happens to be the sister of Vera Farmiga, who leads the Conjuring as Lorraine Warren. Set in 1952 Romania, the film follows the investigation of the mysterious death of a nun at a monastery.
