Ariana Grande breaks down during Aretha Franklin tribute on 'Tonight Show'

Originally planning on only taking part in a comedy skit during her appearance on "The Tonight Show", TMZ reports that Grande was asked to perform a Franklin song to pay tribute to the "Queen of Soul". In fact, she said they weren't friends "for a long time" after that.

Yesterday brought the sad news that Aretha Franklin, the legendary singer and "Queen Of Soul", passed away at 76 years old.

Ariana Grande was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, and she chose to honor Franklin by joining The Roots for a cover of the latter song.

The "God is a woman" performer joined The Roots to sing an emotional rendition of Aretha's 1967 hit, '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman'.

Over on Jimmy Kimmel Live, guest Don Cheadle revealed that he, too, received a phone call from Franklin, who reached out to tell him how much she enjoyed his performance in the 2015 Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead.

Meanwhile, Davidson shared an anecdote in GQ in which he said he proposed to Grande the first time they met.
