And Trump yet again unloaded on Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling and possible collusion with his campaign.

Ohr's wife, Nellie, worked for Fusion GPS during the campaign - something Mr. Trump has tweeted about to highlight his assertions of political bias behind the Russian Federation investigation. "The prospect of a hostile government actively seeking to undermine our free and fair elections represents one of the gravest threats to our democracy since the Cold War and it is critical for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to use every resource available to investigate this matter thoroughly and in a timely fashion".

As Hill Reporter covered yesterday, legal analysts say that a president getting involved in the process of revoking security clearances, especially without going through the usual channels, is utterly unprecedented, and could result in legal battles to determine whether Trump actually has that power.

In revoking Brennan's clearance, Trump on Wednesday accused the former Central Intelligence Agency director, one of his most outspoken critics, of making "a series of unfounded and outrageous allegations - wild outbursts on the internet and television - about this Administration". Writing in The Washington Post, William H. McRaven said he would "consider it an honor" if Trump would revoke his clearance, as well. "They should be looking at the other side", he said, a reference to Hillary Clinton and the Democratic party. "I suspect I'll be taking it away very quickly", Trump told journalists.

"I've never respected him", Trump said.

"So I think it's something that had to be done", he said.

Attorneys said the revocation appeared to be within the president's authority.

"If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken", he added.
