Asia Argento, an actress and director at the center of the #MeToo movement, recently paid off a former child actor who said she sexually assaulted him in a Marina del Rey hotel room when he was 17, the New York Times reported Sunday.

Argento's counsel who handled the settlement, Carrie Goldberg, described the money as "helping Mr Bennett" in the documents. That's why Bennett finally moved to press his case against her.

In response, Argento reportedly agreed to pay Bennett a total of $380,000, beginning with a lump sum payment of $200,000. He was 17 at the time, and the age of consent in California is 18. She allegedly provided Bennett with alcohol, kissed him, performed oral sex, and then climbed on top of him and had intercourse with him. In the notice, Bennett explained that seeing Argento "present herself as a victim of sexual assault was too much to bear... and called up memories of their hotel reunion", according to The Times.

Argento, 42, was one of the first women to publicly accuse Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and rape past year.

The documents, which were sent to The New York Times through encrypted email by an unidentified party, include a selfie dated May 9, 2013, of the two lying in bed.

Months after she came forward with her allegations against Weinstein past year, Asia Argento paid $380,000 to Jimmy Bennett, who played her son in the 2004 movie The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things, according to documents provided to the New York Times.

Weinstein has been accused of sexual misconduct by over 60 women since The New York Times, and The New Yorker documented decades of alleged sexual misconduct and sexual assault involving a number of women in detailed, Pulitzer-prize winning articles in October.

Representatives for Argento could not be immediately reached by The Associated Press for comment. The newspaper cited three unnamed sources as confirming the authenticity of the documents.

The pair acted together in the 2004 film "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, in which Argento plays Bennett's troubled mother".

Mr. Bennett's notice of intent asked for $3.5 million in damages for the intentional infliction of emotional distress, lost wages, assault and battery.
