The Eagles' Greatest Hits 1971-1975, a perennial seller since its initial release in February 1976, has surpassed 38 million copies sold, according to the latest certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Recording Industry Association of America confirmed to the Associated Press on Monday that the band's 1976 compilation album, Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975), has been certified 38x platinum, which means sales and streams of the album have reached 38 million copies.

Instead, the crown has been stolen by The Eagles' Greatest Hits album. The Thriller numbers were updated in 2017.

Tagging another accolade onto the top album spot, RIAA added that the Eagles' "Hotel California", released in 1977, is also now rated 26x platinum - boosting it to third best-selling album of all-time. The nine-track LP, four of which Jackson wrote himself, went onto win countless Grammy and American Music Awards and also become a classic record-breaking album. Thriller is 33 times platinum.
