The Rams have a tough defense, so don't panic yet on Carr.

Derek Carr looked at one point like he had the potential to be one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League, but his struggles from last season spilled over into 2018 with a rough game against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.

Carr turned in a poor performance in Monday's game against the Rams, and he essentially threw his team out of the game with a few very bad interceptions. Gruden, as he gets ready for his opener, sat down with his old colleagues at ESPN and, unsurprisingly, pulled the "he didn't want to be here" card when asked about Mack and why the dominant defensive end was dealt. Then with less than two minutes to play, summer acquisition Marcus Peters intercepted a pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown. "We'll take a good look at the reasons why we didn't". He also had another spectacular play, bowling over cornerback Aqib Talib to reach a first down.

Hurricane Florence: Warnings of life-threatening surge
Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for more than 1 million people in coastal areas of the Carolinas and Virginia. The storm's track is now heading toward the North Carolina city of Jacksonville, about 50 miles north of Wilmington.

Aaron Donald, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, held out of training camp and reported 10 days before the opener after signing a six-year, $135-million contract extension, to end a contract dispute that dated to 2017.

Rams executive vice president of football operations Kevin Demoff said last week that the team had made an aggressive offer for Mack that was ultimately rejected. He finished with a tackle.

"We knew we had to rush Goff and we couldn't give him too much time", Irvin said.
