According to N.H.C., at 5:00 a.m. today the center of Tropical Storm Isaac was located near latitude 14.6 North, longitude 48.1 West. Isaac is moving toward the west near 14 miles per hour (22 km/h).

"Further strengthening is anticipated, and Florence is expected to be an extremely unsafe major hurricane through Thursday", the National Hurricane Center said.

As of a 11 p.m. ET, Isaac was located 1,580 miles east of the Windward Islands, which include St. Lucia, Dominica, Martinquie and Grenada.

The hurricane is rapidly strengthening, according to the NHC.

The National Hurricane Center said Florence was expected to slam into the coast around North and SC as a Category 3 or 4 hurricane on Thursday or Friday.

"We are in the bull's-eye", North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said at a news conference.

The storm is forecast to continue towards the United States, and approach the southeastern coast by Thursday.

Hurricane Florence appears to be taking aim at the largest U.S. Marine Corps base on the East Coast.

And with little wind shear to pull the storm apart, Florence's hurricane wind field was expected to expand over the coming days, increasing its storm surge and inland wind threats, and raising the likelihood of life-threatening freshwater flooding. Behind Isaac, Hurricane Helene is gaining strength, with wind speeds of over 105 miles per hour as of Monday afternoon.

For Central Florida, it is becoming likely that Florence will bring significant wave activity in the Atlantic, along with a risky high rip current threat and possible coastal erosion.

Helene is also expected to strengthen from its current status as a category 1 hurricane.

Helene is a Category 2 storm that's even farther off the coast than both of the other storms, but it's not expected to ever make landfall.

At the moment, Florence, Hurricane Isaac, and Hurricane Helene are all swirling in different parts of the ocean at the peak of hurricane season.

At this height of the Atlantic hurricane season, Florence was being trailed on east-to-west paths by two other hurricanes, Helene and Isaac.

Florence could bring a deadly coastal storm surge, and inland flooding as far north as Virginia, the NHC said. The Emergency Management Division has a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being a normal day and 1 being an ongoing disaster.

At present, Hurricane Florence is about 1,400 miles of the coast of Charleston, which is almost as far away as the city is from the Rocky Mountains.

The NHC said Florence could become a major hurricane "very soon".

In addition, in the Pacific, what's now Hurricane Olivia is forecast to approach Hawaii as a tropical storm on Tuesday. Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune urged people to secure their homes but said it was too early to know if evacuations will be ordered.

Hurricane watches have been issued for the majority of the South and North Carolina coasts.
