England full-back Danny Rose has admitted that his side's first-half performance during this evening's worldwide friendly with Switzerland was "embarrassing".

After an exciting summer of World Cup action and a creditable narrow defeat to Spain in their opening UEFA Nations League game over the weekend, "dull global friendly" service resumed for Gareth Southgate's England as they took on Switzerland at the King Power Stadium.

Manager Gareth Southgate is likely to select Ruben Loftus-Cheek to replace Alli after leaving the Chelsea playmaker on the bench on Saturday.

Rashford's strike put some gloss on what was a less-than-convincing performance by the World Cup semifinalists, which was typified by the jitters of goalkeeper Jack Butland.

It does not mean Shaw is certain to play at Vicarage Road as United's medical staff must be convinced of the full-back's recovery before making him available to manager Jose Mourinho.

Christie Blasts Woodward As 'Stenographer' For Steve Bannon
Woodward's book, in fact, says Trump once called Modi a friend of his, and said he liked the prime minister very much. He quotes John Kelly, Trump's chief of staff, as calling the president "an idiot" and saying , "We're in Crazytown".

"We could have been two or three nil down at half-time", said England full-back Danny Rose. But while there were some satisfactions - among them a first clean sheet in four games - England remain a work in progress.

"Right from five, six, seven-year-olds, there is more emphasis on being able to handle the ball and play".

Frustration: Rashford has found opportunities at Old Trafford hard to come by.

Former United boss Louis Van Gaal gave him his debut as a teenager in 2016 and he burst on to the scene with a glut of goals that earned him an England call-up and place at Euro 2016. Delph offered little forward thrust either, meaning that it was often left to Rashford to take the initiative by turning and running at the Swiss back three. Old stagers Valon Behrami and Gelson Fernandes both announced their worldwide retirements after being left out of the current get-together, and fellow World Cup squad members Blerim Dzemaili and Josip Drmic were also overlooked.

Southgate has lamented England's failure to produce midfielders of the calibre that Croatia and Spain possess.
