Hugo Lloris: Tottenham goalkeeper out for 'several weeks' with thigh injury

While Kane has scored twice in four league games for Tottenham this season, his displays against Watford and for England against Spain have caused concern that he is suffering from the effects of the World Cup.

Kane is likely to lead the line for Spurs when they host Klopp's Liverpool on Saturday as the Premier League returns after the worldwide break.

Liverpool, who finished as runners-up in the Champions League last season, were forced to settle with a fourth placed finish in the league last season, which they secured during the final weekend of fixtures. In only two previous top-flight seasons have they won their opening five games (1990-91 and 1978-79).

But Klopp responded this morning: "How does that work?" How do you prepare a game and not focus on it? That would be amusing.

"I know that's very hard to do but if they could go into February, March, April without it, I think they could have a real chance if they had free weeks".

"Unfortunately he [Lovren] is not fit at the moment, but I am sure he will be back in a pretty intense period with seven games in the next three weeks".

Klopp welcomed back the last of Liverpool's global contingent when Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino returned to training on Thursday. "We will see exactly how we can do it", said the Reds manager when asked about possible rotation at his pre-match press conference.

Liverpool also remain in talks with former Manchester United coach Jack Robinson about becoming an assistant goalkeeping coach at the club, sources have told ESPN FC.

"With a star-studded side full of attacking options the Reds are nearly always guaranteed to score and will look to heap more misery on the hosts who were beaten at Watford last time out. We don't play Champions League or what?"

"Gary should tell me how that works".

"We will see, I don't know what it means, to focus on one competition, can only be if you're almost out of a competition, late in the season".

"Why? I think their method is exhausting for the front three [Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino]".
