The Met Office assured that Tropical Storm Isaac poses no direct threat to Trinidad and Tobago as it continues to move away from the Lesser Antilles.

It has been a calmer than-normal tropical storm season up until this point, yet things are grabbing big: three hurricanes are beating in the Atlantic, with Hurricane Florence quickly moving toward the US East Coast.

Tropical Storm Isaac, which passed between the Caribbean island nations of Dominica and Martinique late Wednesday and early Thursday, is now moving nearly due west across the eastern Caribbean Sea.

The Miami-based National Hurricane Centre (NHC) in its latest bulletin said that hurricane watches had gone into effect for Dominica, Martinique, and Guadeloupe, while a tropical storm watch is in effect for Antigua and Barbuda and Montserrat. The storm surge, major flooding, and damaging winds extending well beyond the center of the storm could cause major damage to coastal communities.

The forecasters also cautioned that rainfall accumulations of 2-4 inches are possible from Thursday into Friday.

Isaac was moving west Wednesday afternoon at a speed of nearly 17 miles per hour.

Aircraft data indicate that maximum sustained winds remain near 60 miles per hour (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Some fluctuation in wind speeds are expected, and weakening forecast Thursday, but it's still expected to be a fierce storm triggering unsafe flooding.

Meteorologists have given Hurricane Florence, which is now heading towards the USA, a category four level strength, meaning the storm could cause major structural damage costing millions.

It's expected be south of Jamaica by Sunday morning.

In addition to hurricane-force winds, Florence was forecast to produce large swells and life-threatening rip currents from the U.S. East Coast to Bermuda. Its winds could approach Category 5 strength, which means winds of 157 miles per hour (253 kph) or higher.
