Spurs' main goalkeeper and club captain Hugo Lloris told French publication RMC Sport he had only a small chance of being fit for the lunchtime clash, having suffered a minor thigh injury at the end of last month.

The Magistrate who sentenced the 31-year-old said that not only had he put his own life at risk, but "that of your passenger".

Prosecutor Henry Fitch said police in an unmarked auto spotted Lloris' vehicle driving at 15mph in a 30mph zone. The Daily Mail tabloid said Lloris registered 100 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in a police check.

Asked whether Lloris, who was found to be twice the legal limit and had a passenger in the vehicle, would remain captain, Pochettino said: "Of course". "The spectacular fall from grace is not lost on Mr Lloris".

"I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my teammates, the manager and all of the supporters", Lloris had earlier said in a statement. "I made a mistake and now I need to pay".

However, the last round of talks, between mid-level USA and Chinese officials in August, failed to reach any agreement. China has threatened retaliation, which could include action against United States companies operating there.

Pochettino, though, says he knows Kane better than anyone.

Speaking to the pre-match press conference, he said, "Alli has just had a minor strain and should be fine for his club at the weekend I would think, but Tuesday's game will come too quickly". He made a mistake and he's suffering all the punishment of society. He blundered once in the final against Croatia but his team still prevailed 4-2.

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris would have accepted being stripped of the captaincy after he was arrested for drink driving, Mauricio Pochettino has revealed.

Lloris, of East Finchley, north London, signed for Spurs from Lyon in 2012, making 209 appearances in the Premier League and keeping 75 clean sheets.
