Formula 1 released these sketches of three concept stages, with the emphasis varying from integrating the halo into the design, to making the design more aggressive, to incorporating larger 18-inch wheels - something technically justified for F1 - and to airflow control. When you get into that condition where you're two or three auto lengths behind, then you're losing grip, the tires degrade more, and it becomes very challenging.

"That is not to say we pay total homage to what will look great in a video game". "Once the cars get within a few auto lengths of each other, they lose 50 percent of their downforce".

Although the final regulations have not yet been agreed upon, Brawn presented three concepts that have been developed by Formula One's aerodynamic group with the help of a designer. I think one of the things you can see on these cars, the bigger wheels which we plan to go to in 2021, is we give a more modern feel to the auto.

"All 10 teams are working towards finding the best solution we can for 2021, so there are regular reviews for all the teams". The prime objective of the work we're doing is to try and produce cars which are more raceable.

"I'm not going to pretend from day one that we will have the flawless solution, certainly from the aesthetics, because try as hard as we can we cannot anticipate every move the teams will make", he said. "There's features on each part of the concept which may well carry over".

Encouragingly, the former Ferrari technical director has confirmed that the main aim of the new design rules will indeed be to ensure drivers can follow each other more closely. Previous regulation changes have resulted in unexpected and ugly design elements, and Brawn admits the first season of cars may not look exactly like the concepts.

Liverpool Spectacularly Lucky Not To Concede Late Penalty Vs Spurs
Klopp knows issues will arise throughout the long and winding campaign, but that air of positivity reared its head once again.

For as long as there has been a Formula 1 class of racing, the cars have been under constant development - some years the changes have been smaller, sometimes bigger, sometimes taking a step back in performance in the name of legislation.

F1 has been working on a new auto design for about a year, the 63-year-old former Mercedes and Brawn team boss said, collaborating with governing body the FIA and the teams on alleviating the problem whereby a vehicle behind another loses a significant amount of its performance.

"Our Formula 2 cars, for instance, lose less performance when they're racing together".

"The new cars will look more exciting, in my view". The new IndyCar is quite good in that respect, and we've been sharing some information with IndyCar on their experiences.

"As time has gone on, another of the primary objectives was to make great looking cars".
