"For months, as part of their joint defence agreement, they would have been strategising together", Schiff noted, adding that Manafort might be able to share information on "what conversations" Trump might have had with Manafort "after the charges were brought against him". She was among the Democratic lawmakers who boycotted his State of the Union address in January, and she voted to advance an effort to launch impeachment proceedings against the president last December.

Trump's former campaign chairman agrees to cooperate with Special Counsel Mueller's investigation as part of plea deal.

On Friday, though, the special counsel finally nabbed his white whale.

Giuliani told the Reuters news agency on Friday that a guilty plea to avoid a second trial would not crush Manafort's chances of receiving an eventual presidential pardon.

Generally, those who plead guilty sit down with prosecutors to detail what they know in a "proffer" session, so the government knows what it will get in the bargain.

According to court documents, Manafort negotiated to give up his SoHo apartment on Baxter Street for his house in Arlington, Virginia, which prosecutors considered for the forfeiture deal.

Later Sunday, Starr told CNN "State of the Union" host Jake Tapper that pardoning Manafort would be "unwise" and "imprudent".

"We don't know for sure", he said, "but I think there's a substantial possibility that this evidence that Manafort is offering will implicate somebody up the chain".

Trump's former longtime attorney Michael Cohen went from serving as his personal "pit bull" to implicating Trump in campaign law violations - the same day Manafort was convicted in his first federal trial in the Eastern District of Virginia.

- He has information about Trump himself. Trump's former personal lawyer has separately pleaded guilty in NY.

His second trial would have been related to Ukrainian political consulting work, including failing to register as a foreign agent.

On Friday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said the Manafort case has nothing to do with Trump. And while he was working on the campaign, emails show Manafort discussed providing private briefings for a wealthy Russian businessman close to Putin.

Manafort was among the participants in a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting in NY with Russians and Trump's oldest son and son-in-law that was arranged for the campaign to receive derogatory information about Democratic president nominee Hillary Clinton. And if what he delivers is worthwhile, then prosecutors can urge the sentencing judge to reduce Manafort's sentence for his service to greater justice.

Once again, Robert Mueller's "witch hunt" has caught itself a witch. He will also be called to testify as a witness before the grand jury and could testify in any other trials that may arise from the investigation.

Or could Manafort implicate Donald Trump Jr.? Mueller is now investigating the possibility of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential poll and a possible collusion between Moscow and Trump's electoral campaign. Mueller is interested in that later period as part of his probe of whether Trump tried to obstruct the Russian Federation investigation.

A long time has passed since Manafort was charged earlier this year. But Giuliani said he counseled Trump that he shouldn't consider such a pardon until after Mueller's investigation was completed, and the president understood. Todd asked why Democrats did not do so when they last had power in 2006.

Schiff said that after watching ex-Trump confidant Michael Cohen's legal troubles ensue, people should consider that "trust and loyalty with Trump run in one direction - only you're loyal to him, he's not loyal to you".

"It's not something to be considered during a pending investigation". He knows what President Vladimir Putin and his loot-laden inner circle want. "That's our advice to him, and there is no reason to believe he's changed his mind on it".
