"I loved his vision", James told The Hollywood Reporter of the acclaimed Coogler, who also directed "Creed" and "Fruitvale Station". That's right, after months, even years of speculation, the sequel to the original film, which starred Michael Jordan, is officially happening!

James' other recent forays into the entertainment world include The Shop, an HBO show in which he held court in barbershops to discuss issues of the day. Spring Hill Ent. tweeted an animated photo, presumably from the upcoming film, of four lockeroom cubbies labeled: "B".

Terence Nance, who helmed Random Acts Of Flyness, will direct the film - a cool 22 years after Michael Jordan, a fleet of National Basketball Association champs, a cartoon menagerie, and Bill Murray overcame the Monstars.

LeBron "Hollywood" James is in full effect.

When the film came out. legendary film critic Roger Ebert gave it 3.5 out of 4 stars.

More reports in 2016 confirmed James as the star, with Justin Lin (of the "Fast & Furious" franchise fame) set to direct. Filming will likely take place during the National Basketball Association offseason. "At this point, Jordan's level of involvement is to be determined".

Rumors of a second Space Jam movie have circled the internet for years, often mentioning James as the choice to replace Jordan. Some even saw James' decision to join the Los Angeles Lakers as proof that Space Jam 2 was a sure bet.

The original Space Jam is the highest grossing basketball movie of all time and featured cameos of NBA stars at the time, such as Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing.

The new film hasn't got a release date yet. Jordan and the Tunes ultimately have to play to determine their fate.

"Space Jam 2" has always been rumoured, but the recent tweet made it clear the project is a go.
