Twitter announced the move somewhat subtly in a series of tweets late Monday.

The social networking site added that its goal is to balance the way it shows you the tweets you'd most likely want to see and the most recent ones in the timeline, though Twitter admits it does not always succeed in that effort. The company changed its timeline algorithm to display relevant tweets based on a user's interactions on the app, launching the "Show your best Tweets first" option in a user's account settings page. This setting will be replaced when the aforementioned easier-to-access switch rolls out. It could easily be made a one-click option on the menu bar between Messages and the Twitter (blue bird) icon.

Washington: Twitter is preparing an option for users to go back to its original chronological news feed, responding to complaints about its algorithmic system implemented two years ago. According to reports from other users, this effectively brings Twitter back to a standard chronological sorting.

A user has to flip on the feature in settings from the iOS or Android Twitter app.
