Dallas Officer Amber Guyger Terminated Over Botham Jean Killing

Amber Guyger, who entered Botham Jean's apartment and shot him dead the night of September 6, has her job terminated on Monday by Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall.

On Thursday, Hall released a statement saying she didn't want to risk interfering with a criminal investigation by making a decision about Guyger's employment.

Guyger was charged with manslaughter in the killing; she is now free on $300,000 bond.

Guyger can appeal her termination, according to Hall's statement.

Amber Guyger was terminated by DPD Chief U. The criminal investigation in the case is ongoing. Police are analyzing the digital door locks of both Jean and Guyger's apartments to get a better idea of what occurred.

Guyger, who was hired by the department in November 2013, had been assigned to the city's Southeast Patrol Division.

Guyger reportedly moved out of the Southside Flats apartment complex - located just blocks away from Dallas police headquarters - last week.

Jean, a native of Saint Lucia who worked for Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Dallas, was across the room when Guyger said she saw a "large silhouette" before giving verbal commands that were ignored before firing two shots.

Guyger was arrested three days after the incident after the Texas Rangers chose to postpone pursuing a warrant "until they could follow up on information that they received from the interview with the officer".

Some of the demonstrators rolled empty coffins as they marched outside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, ahead of Sunday's Cowboys game to protest recent fatal police shootings. The Dallas County District Attorney's office is also conducting its own investigation.

Mata called for Guyger to have fair treatment, but also said she should answer for her actions. Check back for more details.
