Bill Cosby was sentenced on Tuesday afternoon to three to 10 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a woman at his suburban Philadelphia home back in 2004 - the final step in his downward spiral from America's Dad to convicted felon.

In a five-page statement submitted to the court, the accuser, who resides alone with her two pups, said she has coped with anxiety for several years since the assault.

Another Cosby accuser in the courtroom, Lili Bernard, said, "Maybe this will send a message to other powerful perpetrators that they will be caught and punished".

Cosby has remained out of prison for the past five months on $1 million bail, and his lawyers said they plan to appeal his convictions.

Though the charges each carry a maximum possible sentence of 10 years, Judge O'Neill announced that the charges had been merged into one because they all stem from the same event.

Judge O'Neil also ordered Cosby be publicly classified as a "sexually violent predator". The DA still pushed for a 5-10 year sentence, while the defense requested house arrest, and the sentence appears to have landed solidly in middle ground.

Actress Janice Dickinson, who has also accused Cosby of sexual assault, laughed as the former entertainer was led from the courtroom.

"This should be a state prison sentence", said Steele, who said the state even has a prison facility for old and infirm inmates.

The asteroid's surface is known to be rougher than expected, as it has several boulders and barely any smooth places. The rovers hop across the surface, because the gravity on the Ryugu asteroid makes it impossible for them to roll.

A judge has ruled that Bill Cosby is a "sexually violent predator".

Cosby was found guilty of drugging and sexual assault of his one-time friend Andrea Constand at his Philadelphia home in 2004.

During Tuesday's hearing, a defense psychologist said the chances that Cosby will commit another sex offense are "extraordinarily low" because he's old, legally blind and needs help getting around.

Cosby's first trial in 2017 ended in a mistrial when jurors could not reach a verdict.

The Cosby case "really raised awareness of the pervasiveness of ... sexual misconduct against subordinates and against women of relatively less power", said Daniel Filler, dean of Drexel University's law school.

Not everyone shared the Chamber of Commerce's view after Cosby's sentencing Tuesday. She says she told the judge she had the opportunity to testify, the jury heard her, Cosby heard her, and "all I ask is justice as the court sees fit".

The judge said he recognized the defendant's age and blindness, but said they could not be the determining factors.
