Black Ops 4 Has a 50 GB Update If You're Buying Physical

On the official Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 FAQ, it has been clarified that while the game requires 55 GB of hard disk space after installing the day one update, you will need around 115 GB of hard disk free in order to actually download and install the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is going to take a healthy chunk of hard drive space when it installs from the disc, but you'll need to keep some space open for the day-one patch as well.

The update seems to be adding necessary components for the multiplayer modes, including Zombies, Specialist Headquarters, and the new Battle Royale mode Blackout. This isn't the size of the download but rather, the amount of space needed to complete the installation process.

The day one patch has become such an issue that United Kingdom shops have been given permission to sell the game a day early, so that everyone has a chance to download the update in a reasonable amount of time.

The final installation footprint on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be approximately 55GB, we're told.

Though users can opt to buy a physical disc for Black Ops 4, it's probably not the best way to get the game unless it's cheaper and you have uncapped internet. If you've pre-ordered the digital version of the game then you'll be all set to go as the game will go live with the patch already included.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 arrives on October 12 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. To help counter this a little, Activision is allowing select retailers to start selling the physical versions of the game the day before release. The map was also noticeably absent from the list of multiplayer maps in Black Ops 4 that was revealed days ago with "Nuketown" nowhere to be found on that list.
