The former SC governor has been a strong advocate of Trump's foreign policy. She was re-elected in 2014.

Haley is one of the more popular figures in the Trump administration.

While in Washington, she was criticized at times by the nationalist faction in Trump's base of support, including then-chief strategist Steve Bannon, a fellow Goldman alum who left the White House a year ago to return briefly to the right-wing Breitbart website.

Haley's fast rise from a Southern state's legislature to the world stage suggests the 46-year-old may have greater political ambition. He said that Haley could come back to the administration in +any capacity.

I can't say enough good things about Jared and Ivanka. In the role she represented Trump's often unpopular agenda at the UN, advocating a hardline stance on Iran, justifying U.S. cuts to foreign aid and leading the United States withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council.

But Haley has also sometimes distanced herself from Trump. An April Quinnipiac University poll found 63% of voters approved of her job performance, compared with 17% who disapproved.

"This is an appropriate way of doing it", Trump said, calling Haley a "very special" person. Then she'll be president, life will finally catch up to House of Cards, and then we can cancel Netflix.

"I'd pick her but I'd be accused of nepotism, even though I'm not sure there is anyone more competent in the world".

Haley fueled the flame when she singled out Javanka for praise.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wants Pope Francis to visit
While Mr Kim's actions since have fallen short of Washington's demands, the Trump administration is preparing for a second summit. During the last three days of his Asia trip, Pompeo met with top leaders from all three nations in Japan, South and North Korea .

Redskins vs. Saints - Game Preview
Drew Brees then went on to lead the Saints offense on a 15-play, game-clinching drive that bled the final 10:25 off of the clock. The worst penalty of the first half came on Montae Nicholson . "We deserved the penalty".

The Ghost Monument | OFFICIAL TRAILER - Doctor Who
With the dawning of a new era of Doctor Who , we've been given a premiere episode that had a lot of emotional weight to it. The final result of all their brainstorming is the outfit that we saw at the end of episode 1 of season 11 of Doctor Who .

The move removes yet another moderate Republican voice from the Trump Cabinet, and is likely to stoke Democratic concerns that he will replace her with a conservative hardliner more in lockstep with his "America first" philosophy. In April she announced new sanctions against Russian Federation but White House officials suggested they were premature.

Ivanka was in the White House to listen to Haley explain how she will depart her role at the end of the year.

But she has been overshadowed in recent months by the appointments of Trump loyalist Mike Pompeo as secretary of state and hawk John Bolton as White House national security adviser.

She listed hawkish policies to pressure Iran and the Palestinians, and the ground-breaking diplomatic outreach to communist North Korea.

Haley's departure marked one of the rare examples of a senior Trump administration official making a graceful exit. The timing of her departure is still unclear, the president promised a "big announcement" with her at 10:30 a.m.

Axios was first to report the news that Haley resigned.

There is no evidence, however, that the scrutiny of those flights had anything to do with Haley's decision to leave her diplomatic post.

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), who sits on the Foreign Relations Committee and is behind strong sanctions legislation against North Korea, called Haley "a powerful voice" at the United Nations and said she has been an "incredible partner" implementing a "maximum pressure doctrine on North Korea".

The daughter of immigrants from India, Mrs Haley was a frequent critic of Mr Trump during his election campaign.
