Ruby Rose debuts her sensational Batwoman costume for The CW

This year's Arrowverse crossover will introduce Batwoman to the CW's superhero universe and actress Ruby Rose will don the cape and cowl for the character first live-action appearance. The costume was designed by award-winning costume designer, Colleen Atwood. As you can see the costuming is both in line with the Arrowverse designs and her comic book look, keeping the red detailing while rolling in a less spandexy cloth. Production begins Tuesday in Vancouver, reports ET. The character is described as a hero with a flair for social justice who isn't afraid to speak her mind.

The "Arrowverse" event will span The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl, and a Batwoman solo series is already being developed by uber producer Greg Berlanti, for the 2019-2020 season.

In her real life she is Katherine (later Kate) Kane, a wealthy Gotham City heiress who, inspired by Batman's heroic deeds, created for herself a superhero alter-ego.

In August, Rose wrote online that she was happy her character would be open about her sexual orientation, saying, "The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored. I came out at 12?" she tweeted before her exit.
