The bad news is he reportedly was acting out.

According to an ESPN report, Butler practiced with the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

There has been hope among the Minnesota front office, coaching staff and some teammates that Butler would rejoin the team, but it remained to be seen what, if anything, Butler would do on the court with the Wolves on Wednesday.

"You can't win without me", Butler reportedly yelled at general manager Scott Layden at one point.

Jimmy Butler has had a big day. He dominated the gym in every way.

Butler participated in drills and scrimmaged with Timberwolves, sources said.

Butler is believed to have experienced some issues with Wiggins and especially Towns last season.

Some players were motivated by Butler's theatrics, but others were distraught and speechless, most notably Towns, league sources said.

Either way, Butler had previously refused Thibodeau's request to re-join the team, according to multiple reports from The Athletic.

Minnesota had shared Butler's medical information with Miami late last week, sources said, a typical last step before finalizing a trade.

With that in mind, the Heat appear to still be in pursuit. According to ESPN's Stefano Fusaro, the Timberwolves reportedly asked for Tucker and shooting guard Eric Gordon in a trade involving the 29-year old guard. The teams reportedly advanced to the point of exchanging player medical information, which is typically the last step of National Basketball Association trade negotiations.

It's not clear what Butler's outburst means for Minnesota. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Butler was "determined to find a way to the Los Angeles Clippers" and was looking to pair with a second All-Star in the 2019 free agency class.

Butler has been in contact with a few teammates over the past few weeks, including point guard Jeff Teague.
