As the figure below shows, 40% of iOS users on the latest devices still work with iOS 11. It is worth pointing out that the four-year timespan metric is something fresh from the iPhone maker and is mainly aimed to show the popularly of the latest iOS version among all the devices that are available on its compatibility list. In the separate chart, Apple shows that the "percentages of the devices released in the last four years" that have updated to iO12 is sitting at 53 per cent. In the current case, the company is reflecting the growth in the adoption of iOS 12 by the users of the iPhone 6 and later models.

Apple released iOS 12 on September 17th after first showing it off at its annual Worldwide Developer Conference in early June. This is problematic for people who use the same ID on many devices and have to deal with unwanted messages or awkward conversations. Two weeks before its release, Apple advised 85 percent of devices ran iOS 11, with iOS 10 on 10 percent, and earlier versions garnering a 5 percent share. In comparison, iOS 11 didn't top 50% until the first week of November a year ago. This is a much faster adoption rate as compared to numerous previous versions of iOS.
