Mega Millions numbers drawn for ninth-largest lottery jackpot

The Mega Millions winning numbers will be drawn Friday night and Powerball's winning numbers will be drawn on Saturday.

The estimated Mega Millions $548 million prize would be the largest jackpot in more than nine months. It would also be the fourth-largest winning jackpot in USA history, with two Powerball drawings outranking the highest Mega Millions totals. It was the 22nd consecutive draw without anyone matching all six numbers.

The current Powerball jackpot has ballooned to $314 million.

The top prize reached $548 million, with a one-time cash option of $309 million. The Powerball lottery holds the overall record with a $1.586 billion payout in 2016.

NY has sold the most Mega Millions jackpot winnings in game history, with 35 wins in the last 16 years.

The jackpot has been growing since July, when a group of California office workers won $543 million.
