An Air India flight attendant sustained multiple injuries after falling out of an airplane as she prepared for boarding. The Air India has termed the incident as "unfortunate" and promising an inquiry. Harsha Lobo, 53, sustained serious fractures to her backbone and injuries to her right leg and has been admitted to Nanavati hospital in Vile Parle. The flight was to depart for Delhi at 7 am from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

A source claimed that the Air India woman crew member fell off the plane while she was closing the door for the pushback when she lost control and fell from the aircraft. "An investigation will be carried out to determine the exact cause of the incident".

This is not the first time that Indian airlines have made headlines this year.

About three years ago, an Air India engineer had got sucked into the aircraft's engine at the airport here when the pilots started the engines prematurely after mistaking a signal.
