Man Booker 2018: Four women, two men shortlisted for the prize

The author, who now lives in Victoria, B.C., joins three United Kingdom writers and two Americans on the short list, marking the second nomination for Edugyan's book in recent days.

Johnson was chosen for the final Booker six, ahead of bestselling longlisted novels from former victor Michael Ondaatje and the widely acclaimed Irish novelist Sally Rooney, for Everything Under, about a lexicographer searching for her mother.

Poet Jenny Xie is on the National Book Award long-list for poetry for "Eye Level", and fiction writer Jamel Brinkley is on the National Book Award fiction list for his collection of stories, "A Lucky Man".

Six authors shortlisted for the 2018 Man Booker Prize for Fiction were announced on Thursday which includes Anna Burns, Esi Edugyan, Daisy Jhonson, Rachel Kushner, Richard Powers, and Robin Robertson.
