Pakistan cricketer Fakhar Zaman (C-front) plays a shot during day two of the second Test cricket match in the series between Australia and Pakistan at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on October 17, 2018.

Nathan Lyon ran through Pakistan's top-order by taking four wickets in the space of six deliveries as they went down from being 57/1 to 57/5.

On Tuesday, Debutant opener Fakhar Zaman and Sarfraz missed hundred by six runs each but still revived Pakistan on the first day, after Pakistan found themselves reeling at 57/5 having won the toss and made a decision to bat first.

Zaman scored almost three quarters of his runs on the offside, hitting eight fours and a six in his 198-ball knock. "There's going to be a lot of discussion about his place in the team".

Abbas, who was also Player of the Series in Pakistan's previous Test series in England, said the key to his success was understanding the conditions, keeping it simple while bowling wicket to wicket, and waiting to take advantage of reverse swing. Fakhar and Azhar Ali shared 52 runs for the second wicket before the collapse.

The tourists' culprits with the bat were many, but in particular another failure from Shaun Marsh has intensified debate about the veteran's place in the Australian Test team, with former teammate and Australian batting great Mike Hussey acknowledging that pressure was building on his fellow West Australian.
