The Real World is heading to Facebook after MTV and Bunim-Murray Productions struck a deal with the social media giant.

"For us to bring this show back, we had to do it in a different way", said McCarthy at the session. The deal was announced by Matthew Henick, Facebook's Head of Content Planning and Strategy, Paresh Rajwat, Facebook's Director of Product Management, and Chris McCarthy, President of MTV, during Facebook Watch's presentation at MIPCOM 2018. MTV will develop a new season geared toward USA audiences, as well as productions in Thailand and Mexico. The Real World could potentially help with this.

The Real World, which first premiered in 1992, is the longest-running program in MTV history and is credited with both launching the modern reality TV genre and humanizing issues like sex, drug abuse, AIDS, religion, prejudice, sexuality and more. That's right: you can now play God with the Real World contestants. The company is working with MTV and Bunim/Murray Productions, which originated the show. Facebook Watch's live trivia game show, Confetti, will be rolling out in the EMEA, APAC and LatAm regions, while The World's Most Amazing Dog, a global canine competition show based on a format from Israel's Gil Formats, will also be coming to the platform.
