Manny Machado Fined for Jesus Aguilar Incident

The mercurial Manny Machado may have played the hero in scoring the winning run for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Tuesday night's thriller to even the NL Championship Series at two games apiece, but the Milwaukee Brewers are seeing the controversial star shortstop as a villain.

Machado, running to his first base, extended his left foot and kicked first baseman Jesus Aguilar in the ankle, a maneuver that left Aguilar unhappy and jawing with Machado as he was leaving the field.

Both benches and bullpens emptied, but no punches were thrown. AND a game after he twice made high contact with his arm on slides at second base (the second of which led to a called double play). However, when he crossed the bag, he dragged his left foot and appeared to intentionally kick first baseman, Jesus Aguilar.

"He's a player that has a history of those types of incidents", Milwaukee slugger Christian Yelich said. "I don't know", Counsell said. After the game, Machado intimated that he and Aguilar are longtime friends and called him "a great guy".

If the Dodgers win on either Friday or Saturday, they'll advance to Machado's first World Series, enhancing his visibility.

Aguilar said Machado had apologized to him, although Machado declined to discuss what was said when the two spoke later during the game. "I don't know. Call it what you want".

Machado had 37 homers and 107 RBIs in the regular season, and he batted.242 in the first eight games of the postseason.

Bellinger, who entered as a pinch hitter in the sixth, also had the defensive play of the game. So it's just a friendly game, go out, try and compete here.

Travis Shaw was among the players who joined Yelich in calling Machado "dirty" in his play. We talked. It's over. But Brewers manager Craig Counsell did hint his team will keep Machado's tactics in mind - when the stakes are lower. That's two more opportunities for the fireworks to continue between Machado and the Brewers.

No one was as outspoken about Machado after the game as Yelich as he answered questions from reporters about the play.
