Last year, Wozniacki took home her first career win at the end of year event and followed it up with a grand slam title at the Australian Open.

The rivals of us in the semi-finals began Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark), Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic) and Carolina Plskova (Czech Republic).

Bertens has had her best year on tour to date, winning three titles and reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals, but an early exit in Moscow this week left her ninth in the Race to Singapore standings and heading to Southeast Asia as a first alternate.

In their meeting a year ago, Pliskova was broken five times as Wozniacki battled to a 7-6 (9) 6-3 triumph, so she was elated to have saved every break point the Dane earned in their rematch on Sunday.

"The last few weeks were a little bit more stressful". She has only been taken to a decider by the Ukrainian once.

Pliskova raced to a double-break 4-1 lead before capping the first set with a powerful service after 36 minutes. That encounter was on the Nurnburg clay, with Pliskova winning, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. "What do you think? I think it doesn't matter in which group you are, we are the eight best players in the world right now, so I'm feeling good and ready to go".

"Dasha listen to me, this match is not finished yet". I don't want to change the job. Of course you're sad, but you know there is still a chance.

Ouch! Paula Abdul Falls Offstage During Mississippi Concert
Ever the pro, the 56-year-old quickly got up and continued the rest of the show as if nothing had happened. Paula Abdul took a terrifying fall off of the stage at a concert on Saturday night.

She said: "Because if you say "prove yourself", it means - it's not within yourself".

A composed Svitolina made just four unforced errors in the opening set in a notable contrast to her error-riddled opponent, who struggled badly on serve and conceded the first set after her fifth double-fault.

"The good thing I suppose with this format is you're not out". Serving to stay in the match, Jabeur could barely serve and Kasatkina secured the Kremlin Cup title moments later. "Then maybe I'll consider it". A trainer came to her aid and together with Kasatkina, they escorted Jabeur to her bench after the Russian gave her opponent some consolation words.

"I think everyone in my group is a really good player so I'm just really excited to get to play them", Osaka added.

Svitolina will be back in action against Karolina Pliskova, who beat Caroline Wozniacki in the day's other match, on Tuesday and is fuelled by a determination to show she belongs in the season-ending tournament. "Your team is fantastic", Kasatkina told Jabeur during the trophy ceremony.

"Also, I'm proud that I could come back stronger and I could make a better result".

After receiving some treatment post-match, Jabeur congratulated Kasatkina and thanked the Tunisians who supported her in the stands, including her nation's ambassador to Russian Federation. But, for now, I don't know.
